CMAQv5.0 Updates to SOA yield parametrization (AERO5 and AERO6)
SOA yield parameterizations (alphas and C*s) for monoterpenes (TRP1 and TRP2) and sesquiterpenes (SQT) are updated to the values from Carlton et al. 2010. Although Carlton et al. documented changes for CMAQv4.7, the values from the paper were not fully implemented until CMAQv5.0. The revision between CMAQ v.4.7 and 5.0 specifically addressed how the density was accounted for in chamber experiments of monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes performed by Griffin et al. [1999]. The original Griffin data was modified by adjusting the yield and organic aerosol concentration using a density of 1.3 μg/m3 [Carlton et al. 2010]. Compared to v4.7 parameterization, organic aerosol levels generally decrease slightly.
